Sales gives me the opportunity to hone my entrepreneurial spirit through planning my outreach approaches and pitch angles, learn something new every day through speaking with clients and researching industry trends, and directly see the results of my hard work through milestones being reached and commission dollars being earned!
Sales is the ultimate level playing field. It provides individuals from all walks of life an opportunity to leverage emotional intelligence, hard work, strategic thinking, and intrinsic motivation as a means to control their own career outcomes. Success in sales is quantifiable, but the impact you can have on others is not.
So many reasons! Selling allows me the opportunity to provide value to a business or another person; to make their business or life better, if even in a small way. This act is deeply satisfying. Selling challenges every facet of my life: my mind, my heart and my spirit. Selling requires that I bring all of me, not just part of me, to the task.
I find meaning in helping people become better holistically. In sales, we get the opportunity to listen, identify, empathize, and potentially meet the needs of our customers so that they become better both professionally and personally. I also enjoy surprises and winning! So, because you never know who might pick up that that one cold call, there’s a thrill to it that cannot be described until you give it a try and close your first deal.
